Nullagine Arts: Culture on Canvas

This project aimed to work with women from the Irrungadji community of Nullagine, WA, to pass down endangered cultural knowledge to younger generations. The community wished to do this by creating a large collaborative painting and a film of the project. Paintings of ‘Skin Groups’ and ‘Jila Kutjarra’ were made by over 30 women and children, and this had led to further projectdevelopment. In collaboration with the Nullagine Primary school, the children organised themselves in their skin groups which they had learnt about on the weekend through the painting project to show their teachers.
